We walked the path, along the Twitten, passing the hidden bones of stories gone by, to pour our stories like hot coffee into new vessels; to be held, consumed, reviewed, to be vexed, to be pacified, satiated and surprised - this was cohort 3 of my magical memoir course.

Every autumn, I have the privilege of supporting a group of brave writers as they embark upon their memoir journey. I say 'brave' because anyone who has every tried to write about their life knows that this is a deeply moving task and one that requires a good dose of grit and gumption! It IS hard work, however rewards are granted in bucketfulls. The surprise is how you respond, how you grow and how new eyes see old stories and create freedom and space for the future. It is a special kind of magic that I am passionate about - beleiev me when I say, everyone should have a go at memoir.

It's not all about looking back and reminiscing about the past, it's about understanding yourself today, seeing who you have become whilst also developing a greater understanding of the other characters in your story. It is an opportunity to revisit and restory parts of your life that are important to you; as well as an opportunity to record your life for future generations. Doing your duty as a helpful, healed and useful ancestor must not be underrated!

It's certainly not an easy ride, though simple enough an idea - we meet, we drink coffee, we write about our life...

if you are inquisitive about memoir do get in touch. I would be honoured to help support you on the path.
